Our Commitment to Culture
The Bainum Family Foundation is comprised of staff who reflect a cross-section of rich and diverse voices formed from their deep and varied backgrounds. Though we come from different places, we stand together on the core values of Commitment, Integrity, Continuous Learning, and Collaboration, and their corresponding practices and behaviors. We practice these values in all our work, and in our partnerships with communities, to co-create a society in which all young children thrive. This way of working and being allows us to actively strive for a culture that is: welcoming, creates equal access to opportunities, fosters trust, embraces change, values feedback, and promotes well-being.
How We Define Culture
The foundation defines culture through a human-centric interpretation of our core values. This means the foundation is committed to creating, curating, and continually strengthening a communal sense of identity for our staff that enables our team to excel both individually and collectively. This culture is founded on an approach that allows our team to be “fully human” and bring their whole selves to work. Our people-first mentality, combined with our core values, enables an environment that values those who offer themselves to others as:
- Genuine
- Welcoming
- Open-minded
- Receptive to feedback
- Trustworthy
As a team, we honor and live this cumulative deposit of values, beliefs, and behaviors not only to fuel our internal success but to uplift our partners and communities.
How We Live Out Our Culture
Our commitment to culture is inseparable from our actions: we live our culture through both our organizational “talk” (e.g., strategic conversations) and “walk” (e.g., planning, execution, and evaluation). By embedding our culture into everything we do, we can show up for each other and our communities as a welcoming and open-minded organization committed to building stronger families and communities at a systemic level.
