Describe your role at the Foundation.
As part of the Communications team, I get to help strategically shape and share the story of the Foundation, the evolution of our work and the successes along the way. Some of my responsibilities include managing our blog and social media channels, developing presentations and speaking engagement materials for our senior leaders, and leading internal communication efforts as well as external efforts including our Seventh-day Adventist Initiative.
How long have you worked here and why do you choose to work here?
I celebrate my two-year anniversary with the Foundation in August 2018. My role allows me to combine my passion for communications with a compelling, comprehensive mission I whole-heartedly support. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish for children and families in the District of Columbia and beyond, and I’m honored to be part of this team and part of this process.
What do you like to do for fun?
Musical theater — I’m a classically trained soprano and perform in local productions whenever I can. I also love reading and high-intensity internal training.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Salmon and roasted vegetables — that or peppermint bark cheesecake.
What is one thing you keep at your desk?
Large gold letters that say “YAY.” I love them because they represent how I try to approach everything in life — with big, bold, genuine enthusiasm.
How have you grown personally and professionally since you’ve been here?
I recently sat down with my boss to explore master’s degree programs, and together, we identified the one I am currently pursuing. Between that and the daily support I receive from her and our other leaders, the future and my growth here feel limitless.
