Bainum Family Foundation Promotes David Daniels to Chief Operating Officer
Bethesda, Maryland (October 17, 2018) — The Bainum Family Foundation has named David Daniels as its Chief Operating Officer, a new role created to reflect the growth and evolution of the Foundation’s work, which focuses on enhancing the quality and availability of resources for children living in poverty. Daniels had served as the organization’s Vice President of Operations and Organizational Effectiveness for the past 18 months. The promotion, effective October 1, recognizes his leadership and expanding responsibilities and contributions.
In his previous role, Daniels oversaw the implementation and operational activities for all programs and initiatives — translating the Foundation’s mission, vision and goals into sustainable processes, systems and procedures to deliver quality program services. As Chief Operating Officer, he will continue this oversight and serve as an internal leader of the organization — promoting a high-performing culture that fosters the Foundation’s core values of continuous learning, integrity, collaboration and commitment.
“David’s commitment to both our mission and culture is evident in everything he does,” says Barbara Bainum, Chair of the Board, CEO and President of the Foundation. “From spearheading our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative, to the way he leads and inspires his teams, to his commitment to his own continued growth as a leader, he is an invaluable asset to our organization. I know this from my close work with him, but I also hear this sentiment consistently echoed by our staff and partners.”
Daniels joined the Foundation in 2012 and has since served in a variety of programmatic and operational roles including Director, Seventh-day Adventist Initiative and Senior Director, Program Operations. Prior to his work at the Foundation, he was Principal at Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Maryland, and School Administrator at both Mount Vernon Academy in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Liberty Christian Academy in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to his role at the Foundation, Daniels is a member of the Association of Black Foundation Executives and the Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers. He also volunteers at Beltsville Adventist School and Miracle City Church, and he serves on the Board of Directors at Pine Forge Academy.
He holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Franklin University and a bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Columbia Union College. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Business Administration from Wilmington University.
