Leadership Coaching

“I cannot think of a single elite athlete who made it without a coach. The same should hold true in educational leadership.”

 — Brian Kittleson, Associate Director of Secondary Education, Michigan Conference

We are currently seeking applications for coachees to be included in this two-year ACE Academy program (which can result in CEUs). While space is limited, all school administrators currently serving within the Columbia Union are eligible to apply.

By participating in this program, coachees will:

  • Serve the greater Seventh-day Adventist mission by growing and developing as leaders
  • Advance their own professional growth
  • Network with a community of learners/leaders
  • Receive honest, confidential feedback from a personal coach who is solely focused on serving as a thought partner and advocate for personal growth
  • Gain support in building a school team and improving student outcomes
  • Develop confidence, resilience and sustainability as a school leader

And learn how to:

  • Articulate a robust vision for success and implement actions needed to achieve that vision
  • Explore and identify school goals
  • Explore and identify personal leadership goals in service of school goals
  • Provide constructive and effective feedback
  • Become a reflective practitioner
  • Establish a foundation for equity

ACE Academy coachees will participate in the following activities over the course of the 2019-2020 school year. (A similar structure will be expected for Year 2 of the coaching relationship.)

  • Summer Institute focused on organizational and instructional leadership skills and practices (three-day session from July 9-11, 2019)
  • Initial virtual goal-setting meeting with the ACE Academy coach
  • Monthly virtual check-ins with the ACE Academy coach
  • Visits with the ACE Academy coach and NYCLA facilitator (two total, one in the fall and one in the spring)
  • Off-campus training sessions joined by ACE Academy coach (Fall 2019 and Spring 2020)
  • A formative 360-degree assessment aligned to the program standards and identified personal goals
