Apply to Be an ACE Academy Leadership Coach

We are currently seeking applications for coaches for the two-year ACE Academy program. Applicants should have a minimum of three years’ experience in an educational leadership position and an interest in coaching and sharing leadership experience with fellow education leaders. This leadership coaching program can result in CEUs and certification as an ACE Academy Leadership Coach.

By participating in this program, coaches will:

  • Serve the greater Seventh-day Adventist mission by developing “homegrown” leaders
  • Learn coaching techniques that maximize both individual and team performance in any environment
  • Develop others while continuing in their current leadership role
  • Engage in high-impact professional learning
  • Learn from and network with other leaders across the region
  • Promote a standard of excellence that benefits staff and students in multiple schools
  • Enhance principal retention within the system
  • Develop skills as a future consultant

And learn how to:

  • Use listening and questioning to promote extended dialogue and generate insight
  • Provide constructive and effective feedback
  • Cultivate a culture of intentional reflection
  • Establish a foundation for equity
  • Create a supportive, challenging and safe learning environment
  • Strategically use facilitative and directive coaching strategies to drive positive change

ACE Academy coaches will participate in the following trainings over the course of two years:

Year 1

  • One coach training introduction (two-day session followed by a half-day meeting, from July 9-11, 2018)
  • Trainings over the school year (two two-day sessions, scheduled for October 2-3, 2018, and March 12-13, 2019)
  • Virtual trainings (up to six, two to three hours per training)
  • Virtual check-ins with NYCLA facilitators (up to six hours total)

Year 2

  • In-person trainings (three one-day sessions)
  • Virtual trainings (up to six sessions, two to three hours per training)
  • Virtual check-ins with NYCLA facilitators (up to six hours total)

ACE Academy coaches will be paired with one school administrator (“coachee”) in Year 1 and up to two coachees in Year 2. Minimum coach-coachee engagements include:

  • Initial goal-setting meeting with the coachee (two hours)
  • Information session with conference superintendent to learn about the coachee’s strengths and areas for growth
  • Monthly virtual check-ins (one to two hours)
  • Two in-person school visits with coach (up to four hours per visit with at least one visit joined by a NYCLA facilitator)
  • Biannual formative 360-degree assessment aligned to standards and the coachee’s goals

Interviews will be conducted for selected applicants on May 8-9, 2018, at the Columbia Union Office. Candidates selected for interviews will be informed of the date and time by April 30, 2018. Please save these dates, as interviews are mandatory for acceptance into the program.
